Thanks to all of you who wrote to us about our wonderful mare, Tequila, whom we had to have put down Tuesday morning (March 2, 2010). She went down and was too weak to get up again. We'd been expecting it since she would have been 35 years old in April, but it's such a shock to have the time actually come. Amy actually learned to ride "a big horse" on her when she was a kid.

We adopted her when she was 4 years old and still about as wild as she was when she came off the BLM lands over by Ontario, OR. She learned to trust us and was without doubt one of the best trail horses we've ever had. We will miss her greatly and her low voice telling me it was time for her treats.

We will miss following her white tail in the dark at Silver Creek Falls when she'd stop at every trail crossing to let us know where we were in the dark. She loved smaller animals like sheep or calves and let them eat out of her bucket before she did. She taught a lot of folks not to be afraid of horses and taught a lot of kids how to ride. RIP beloved friend.
